Fabulous is such a fabulous word isn’t it? I love it. It makes me feel good.
It comes from the Latin fabula which is the root word for fable, which is traditionally a word that means mythical or story-based. But did you know that the word Fable is also a synonym for the words legendary and heroic?
As language is open to interpretation I believe that we have a choice how we define ourselves. That means that we choose whether we are fabulous or fable, a legend or a hero, not the events or people around us.
Do you think you are fabulous? You should. There are probably hundreds of things that you have done in the past that have made a difference in the world you live in. And there will definitely be hundreds more to come in the future. Trav Bell has an acronym for his passion “Bucket List” and each letter becomes a category that defines the things to tick off a bucket list. My favourite is “L” Leave a Legacy.
If you are having trouble defining how fabulous you are, here’s a short acronym you can use to remind yourself:
F When was the last time you had Fun? And when is Fun next scheduled into your life? What is Fun for you?
A Who do you Admire who is a little bit like you? Can you imagine channeling your “inner them”? How do they act or speak or engage? How do you do some of that?
B Where do you Belong? Who is your tribe? You are the sum of the five people you hang around with and you need to make sure they build you up, not drag you down.
Go on, be fabulous. Because you truly are.
