The Thinker

The Thinker

I have a deck of cards on my desk that are communication cards. I use them to “get communicating” with myself. They have wonderful images on them and I pick one a day.

Today’s card is the Thinker, Rodin’s sculpture. I did a bit of wiki and google and ended up reading a page that was talking about the  “thinker being separate from me” – in the words of Neale Donald Walsch and Eckhart Tolle.  I realised that often I think as though my mind is separate from me – or that my mind is a different entity to my heart.

I heard someone very clever say that the brain is the hardware (the computer) and the mind is the software. I have expanded that and think the heart is the user. The hardware and software are nothing without the user.

When I think from the heart, my world expands. When I don’t think from my heart I end up thinking what Brad Sugars’ Action Coaches call “below the line thinking” – Blame, Denial and Excuses. Above the line thinking is Ownership, Accountability and Responsibility. Thanks Stefan Kazakis for teaching me this one.

So where are you thinking from today – mind or heart?
